For the past few days, I've been having a problem with Gmic which frequently freezes, whether it's with my Gimp 2.10.38 version (Gmic 3.5.4)

or with the portable version of samj 2.10.36 (Gmic 3.5.2).

or with samj Gimp_3.0.2_Portable_clang

And I noticed in programs and features this:

Is this normal?

No replies : No body has a fix, including me.

Using the appropriate gimp_gmic_qt 3.5.5 installer I find no problem with Gimp 2.10.38 / Gimp 3.0.4 both from gimp.org.

You could give a bit more information about which gmic filters you are using. If you are using some old filters maybe incorporated into a "fave" then that might be the problem. A gmic update might be breaking the old parameters.

gmic is a bit like Gimp, it keeps a folder with user files C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\gmic
You could disable that by renaming, run Gimp and then gmic and it will make a new default folder. See if that helps.

The samj portable versions are another matter. I would stick with the gmic that comes with each version. That has its own gmic folder, maybe have a look for that and delete any updatexxxx.gmic files.

Thanks, rich2005 :bigthup
Health problems prevented me from coming back to thank you.
I did what you told me, and now I'm limiting myself to using only Gimp 2.10.38. ;)
