G'MIC has presets for both.

Using the 64 bit plugin ( V-02-Windows), i get really nice results.
Utilizing a partial mask, and grain merge layer mode on the resulting layer. with about 47% opacity.

Results are definitely sharper.

Plugin did crash though while raising threshold parameters. But i just ran it thru filters>Repeat and it worked fine.

Switched out the 64 bit with the 32 bit V-02 version and no crashes.
