I am here to learn Gimp.
I also might want to give building the source code a shot.

Welcome to Gimp Chat Bill.

You can find many, many new add-ons, and extensions for Gimp at the Gimp Registry. These filters or scripts are created by Gimp users, and submitted to the site for other users of Gimp to try.

It is very possible to build Gimp's source on Windows (not sure what system you use) ,but you will need the correct setup.See here for more information.

Good luck! :)

Learning Gimp is a continual process. And that's what makes it so cool. I learn something new all the time. I've been loving it for more years than I can count. So welcome and start clicking them buttons.

If you want to work on the source code, take a look here. GIMP needs developers. http://developer.gimp.org/
