Another Combination ?
BW pencil + BW Dither (that is in Gmic color menu )

i am a bit uncertain on use of dithering (it may do weird things then watching images at different scale ) but here seems working well

EDIT :gaah ARG!

Looks fine on my PC not here , here popped out that sort of moire effect i was fearing (Do you see a sort of little squares patten ? or white crosses between the dithering points ...something similar to jpg "mosaicize" artfacts
weird that happens also at same the png to see if something change...no nothing change no luck

OREGONIAN GEOTUX...how to remove 1 allegate ? ,,ah ok solved now

this more then a Vapor Tractor look to me as the lost secret weapon developed by the Confederate Army during Secession War :2gun :tantrum :

...a sort of steampunk vapor cannon that could shoot beams of deadly infrasound
( luckily was finished too late ... )

oh well day dreaming on secret steampunk lethal weapons from end of 1800...anyway this tractor is a bit strange

Oooh!!!!!!! I like!!!! We can use it to shoot dangerous space aliens with infrasound.

Here in Oregon there was a lot of logging going on in the past (still have logging but more controlled). Much of the logging equipment was deserted and is still found in the forests.

This is a donkey. Original image here.

Wiki article about the donkey.

Another donkey. Original image.

I found I could change the color in BWPencil. Move the Saturation slider all the way to the right, then move the hue button and find the color you want. Move the Saturation back until you get the color you want.

the donkey come out very well,
The bw remind me some illustration from old book

yes i know of the Hue and saturaction sliders it s cool but i do not use much,

instead i added in the GMIC wishlist (http://www.flickr.com/groups/gmic/discu ... 211269502/ ) a request for pencil and sketch filter to have as option not a white but a transparent BG

You guys are awesome with that G'MIC plugin. =)
I can see the squares between the dithering especially at the very top PhotoComix ... very cool effect!
Maybe one of you guys can create one with an added gradient.I bet that would look neat.

O that donkey looks like someones old moonshine still. I wonder if the farmers around there used some of them for that? =P

your last image fooled me, even if you wrote about donkey

Somehow i saw some kind of boat there :
a sort of steam powered wooden raft, only now looking in the link i got what it was

I wouldn't be surprised, Rod.

As far as I know, moonshining is still going on. When the "revenuers" find it, some of it gets bottled in canning jars and sold in the liquor stores here as white lightning. Here in Oregon you can only buy hard liquor in a state operated liquor store. I think anything over 20% alcohol is sold there. Grocery stores sell beer and wine.

You can still buy white lightning in West Virginia, if you know where to look, lol.

I know this isn't a vehicle, but it shows how this wonderful technique can be used elsewhere. This is a run down shack, in NJ. This is just a part of it, but I love the result!

That's awesome, Greg. I bet the original is very cool too.

How did you get the grass-weeds a different color from the rest of the image? I like the effect. It looks like the sky is bluer than the rest, too.

I followed PhotoComix directions on page one this thread. I moved the original color layer to the top, set it to color mode and adjusted it's opacity.

The flag on the shack, is real. I had to get a few shots of the shack.
