Lorri the ggr file is a gradient and the ini file is generaly associated with a plug-in such as gurm, could you post the complete file names please.

no
but better you list the scm you downloaded

well anyway the ggr are gradient so files go in the gradient folder, but for the ini file i must know to what script you refer

But i believe you refer to a PYTHON script, never heard of scm that require a ini file while may happen for py (python ) script

Take all the ggr files out of you script folder and put them in your gradient folder. scm=scripts, ggr=gradients

Lorri,
I don't know if this helps but this is what your folders look like, put all your scm files in the one that says scripts, put all the ggr ones in the gradient folder, and so on

Lorri,

It appears that all your .scm files are in the wrong place. I would start by creating a folder on your desktop for .scm files and another for the .ggr files. Move everything with a corresponding .scm extension to the .scm desktop folder and teh .ggr to its folder , etc.,etc. Depending on what type files you have and how many folders you need. Once you've done that take a look at the path below. There is another 2.0 folder within the second gimp folder that contains all the separate folders you need to place your downloaded files.

Gimp 2.0>share>gimp>2.0

Sometimes when you download a script or filter in a zip file, it contains different type of files that have to be separated into their various folders. I use a "Temp Downloads" folder that I keep on my desktop. I can surf all day long, download everything to the temp folder, and then go back later whenever I have time to move the files to their respective folders. Once you get them in the right folders they should work just fine. If not, there is one more step that you might, I repeat...might...need to take but we can do the "wait and see" thing before we get into that.

Hope this was clear enough at the risk of being verbose. BTW...Welcome to the world of GIMP!

Hmmmmm. Strange. You have the same OS & version that I do but according to the tree on the left they are all in the gimp folder and the second 2.0 folder isn't there. Oh well, you have the various folders you need now just separate them as explained before. The .scm files go into the scripts folder and the .ggr files go into the gradients folder. As you download different toys you'll become familiar with all the extensions and where they go.

You should be placing all your extra scripts and resources you add to Gimp in the user folder gimp-2.6 directory tree.
For instance mine is here for XP
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\.gimp-2.6
In that .gimp-2.6 folder are all the subfolders for extra resources.
On load of Gimp(when you start it), Gimp will see these files first and load them along with it's actual program directory files.
Those 3 init (or initialize) , files need to stay in the scripts folder
script-fu-compat.init
script-fu.init
plug-in-compat.init

Leave those alone

Any other ini files you download place them in the plug-ins folder along with the plug-in they come with. (such as GURM), if you ever download that particular plug-in. :)
