(click for DA version)

Characters from Where Red Apples Lie, like most of my black&white studies. Yes, she's quite small. Yes she has only one leg. And no, she's not very big on showing emotions. :)

I wanted to experiment with bodily interactions and went for the hug. It's fascinating how different message this would send if she just hugged him back ...

Large DA view highly recommended.

MyPaint + GIMP, grew from a doodle.

Wow Griatch; I just wish I had 10% of your talent. Really enjoy seeing your work when you do post them. Hate to cliche' this with an excellent, but I can't think of anything non-Disney to describe your work. :)

The suspense of the moment. It's almost as if her arm is starting to raise to hug him back. I love the image and I also am urging her to continue raising her arm and put it around him.

It's practicaly impossible to add any comments that would reflect more highly than the ones already given. I can only add my humble opinion of an incredible talent. Well Done!

I have a few things I'll need to fix in this image (a night's sleep tends to reveal such things, gack), but overall it came out pretty ok. Thanks for the encouraging remarks!

@lylejk:
You have plenty of talent, it's just that you've focused in a very different form of art than this (that said I don't think I've ever seen a hand-painted piece of yours, so who knows! :) )

@Oregonian
I'm glad the tention comes across. The position of the arm is sort of ambivalent as to where it's going, that's true. :)

@Rod
I invite speculation on why the window is broken. ;)

@Draconian:
Thanks!

@tsandiford
I just started this as a doodle to test a hug-pose, but it grew to take far longer than originally planned. I think the whole thing took about a whopping 5-6 hours, mostly since I was redoing stuff over and over and wasn't really sure where things were heading most of the time. ;)

You know what the saying is about a picture. A picture has a thousand words. That picture is something I must say. Priceless as they say!!! If you have talent it's nice to show it off. Fab work :D

I updated this image a bit, making his legs wider (were a bit too scrawny before) as well as shrunk his feet a bit. Should be more proportionate now.

@Lorri
Thanks. :)
