I really do, but I'm just so damned tired. I've tried almost every major Linux flavour out there, and even a few random off-shoots, but I have gotten nowhere. Seriously, I like Linux, and I love the idea of dropping bloated, over-priced, malware-prone, [insert lots of negative qualities here] Windows.

Let me make a short list in my head:
Linux Mint
Ubuntu
Ubuntu Studio
Debian
Debian Sidux
Puppy Linux
OpenSolaris
PC BSD
TinyCore
Fedora
OpenSuse

I know, I know, that's not too many, but for instance, "Ubuntu" includes the past three major versions and well as the laptop, desktop, and server versions.

The problem is that none of these work. Some I can't even get booted. Whenever I try some other OS, one or more of these things will happen:
-Refuses to install or load/recognize LiveCD.
-Cannot connect to a significant chunk of the main repositories or their mirrors.
-Install/Loads, but has seemingly unresolvable graphics-card destroying freak-outs.
-Installs, but for some reason can't find or didn't install key systems, like X11.
-There's some problem with the power manager. Usually this is random screen dimming interspersed with sudden cut-offs.
-It somehow overheats, even though the fans are supposedly hardware-controlled and/or still running.
-Works, but is nearly impossible to get my tablet working.
-Works, but is nearly impossible to get my wifi card working.
-Works, but is nearly impossible to get my touchscreen working.
-Works, the first time, then randomly begins having problems without me making any changes.
-Works, but my monitor has to be reconfigured every boot. Attempts at auto-configuring fail.
-Works, but with some other deal-breaking error.
-Works (No it doesn't, I just haven't noticed yet.)

I've tried and tried. I have spent hours - no, days - f%^&ing weeks researching and attempting to fix minor issues that no one but me seems to have. I mean, when my monitor gets the terrifying idea to morph into a canvas-like grid and begin bleeding white pixels; I don't like that. Or when I go through the trouble of killing the graphical interface and dropping down into the base terminal to do a dist-upgrade, and then it can't connect to half of the repositories (even though I can if I go to that same link in Firefox); I'm not happy.

Things like this; they make me want to burn a DVD with Linux on it, crack it in half, cry for a few minutes, and then go have some coffee and a cookie while watching with begrudging, irreverent satisfaction as Windows loads without bursting into the myriad of gargantuan, insurmountable nightmares sprung forth of the depths of a long-lost Lovecraftian horror, the likes of which no mortal mind can behold without succumbing to the unendurable soul-wrenching cataclysm in which (for me) the Linux experience became.

...

Okay, I suppose that technically was a rant.

The point is, that by some unfathomable twist of fate's gleaming knife that is no fault of the Unix community itself, I have been unable to find even a convoluted solution that would make any of my Linux experiences remotely tolerable.

I'm tired of this cat-and-mouse game I've had. I don't want recommendations or opinions, I just want to sit here and scribble stupid pictures while sipping my coffee in peace.

Thanks for listening.

Thanks, but my issues aren't with installing the various distributions (with a couple of exceptions), my issues are with the operation systems themselves.

It's outta here now.

Don't think anyone is interested in cheap gold from China anyway.

I use double sided sticky tape, to keep my ears back, and I airbrush out my freckles. :tehe
