@Odinbc,
That is version 0.7 which works fine in both 2.6 and 2.8 on my box.
I only use it for brushes.
What's nowhere to be found is version 0.8.
Gerard.

Ok i think i have it working now.
At least it loaded scripts, gradients, and brushes for me.
You have to do/edit some things first...
1) take out the line after "installedOptions = " in EVERY instance
GURM auto loads these as you use them. (it re-writes itself)

2) (Thanks ZWard for this catch) ... remove the comma at the end of the line before the parenthesis.
CHANGE (in the gurm.py file)
menu="<Toolbox>/Xtns/Languages",)
TO
menu="<Toolbox>/Xtns/Languages")
3) make sure this line is correct to the gurm.py file
GURMINI = "F:\Gimp-2.8-32bit-Partha\pref_1\plug-ins\gurm.ini"

4) make sure all your paths to your user folders are correct in the gurm.ini file.

That seemed to fix it for me. :)

I am sorry but what did I catch? I don't remember much lately, too much stress?

I prefer the old versions of managers (with a little modification)

This is version 8 MareroQ. :)
Loads fonts, mathmap expressions, and plugins plus all the other resources.

You can get Gimps Uniform Resource Manager (GURM) here.
http://registry.gimp.org/node/13473

Be sure and read the install instructions.If you need help installing do not hesitate to ask. :)

Unless I am misunderstand something, most of this discussion is about version 0.7. Are there any more details on the 0.8 version

Version 0.7 runs ok in both 2.6.12 and 2.8.0 on my box (albeit a bit slow).

I have GURM version 8 working in Gimp-2.8 32 bit Portable (Parthas version).
It is as far as i can tell a test version for now. Look for further updates at the registry as they become available.
Hopefully Mike will read this topic again and see the bugs that can be fixed pretty quickly.Then he will probably release it to the public.
OR MareroQ has created something pretty extraordinary if you ask me. A resource loader that will load not a directory of scripts but one or more at a time.So you can go through a list of your scripts and grab just the one you need. :)

I have asked him to include brushes to a similar filter for loading those.
This in my mind would be much handier as you can load the ones you need and not a whole bunch with an entire directory being loaded at once. I just sorted all my brushes by type for the version 8 GURM filter...what a job that was to place them in separate folders. It took me 7 hours to do my brushes, and patterns. So i decided NOT to sort my scripts and plugins and left them in their already path referenced folders. With MareroQ's scripts you would not need separate folders.Just one folder holding brushes with descriptive file names. :)

Not to mention when you load a directory of brushes with the current GURM and you have a bunch of resources already referenced...you will be waiting a while for everything in GURM to refresh itself as GURM loads them all at once. MareroQ's filter only loads a specific resource. Much better in my honest opinion. :bigthup

Hopefully MareroQ will be able to provide us with a few filters for each resource.Namely Brushes, Scripts, and patterns. Those are the load bearing files. Plugins load quite quickly anyways and i really do not believe you need a locator for them. Besides that Gimp needs to initialize them as they load...it would have to shut down. Version 8 is supposed to load plugins but i haven't tested it...why? Because i have all my plugins still referenced and no way will i wait for GURM 8 to load those and my other resources to load one new plugin, or a directory of them.
There is a link above to MareroQ's fix. :)

Anytime.
Currently i am using just MareroQ's scripts and have found them to be excellent.
When you need new brushes you can go to the little tab on the brushes dialog select "Brush Menu" and select "Brush Manager"...Pretty nice and in a much better spot.
This goes for Fonts, Brushes,Gradients, Palettes, and Patterns.
Scripts can be found at Filters>Script-Fu>Script Manager.

Pretty nifty! :) :bigthup

But Rod You have more than one gimp version installed have you tried the manager on on both versions with one set of brushes or do you have a set for each version and update both sets when adding new brushes

Ahh now i see the importance of you having both versions.I never thought of script writing/testing. :)
Try another set of resources on a removable drive and see if that works.

I see. Well i don't think it will be possible without 2 sets.
Unless you could find a way to make Gimp/Python believe the set is still there (in the manager folder) , even though it's been loaded?

Did you try using Python 2.7 with both versions?
Editing the pygimp.interp file in the Gimp-2.6 directory?

I am really confused by 3 long topic on a similar argument , Resources manager

maybe somebody may summarize and know the answer to a couple of questions:

1)Gurm, MareQ scripts, or something else are portable ? i mean once installed if i transfer my portable gimp on a different drive i must then correct all the paths ?
( i use only paths for subfolders inside gimp)

2) well a confront, also any of this may save configurations ?
suppose i want have a few possible configuration(i.e animation, photo-retouch, painting ) and be able to switch quickly, it would be possible ?
