i wanted to copy a movie from my external hard drive to one of my usb units today. i sat down to look for the file but the phone rang and i had to rush up and get it - and caught my foot in the cable that connected the external hard drive to my laptop so the cable got unplugged. when i came back and plugged it in my external hard drive didn't work and i couldn't retrieve the information on it though i tried the few tricks i know. so now i'm mourning my collection of bollywood movies and most of the music i listen to, my collection of ethnic pattern png:s, my photos from my trips to ireland and scotland and some photos of my god children that i don't seem to have backup copies of - and other stuff like that. of course i know i should have kept backup copies of everything, but i'm not organized enough for that!
it's rather blue around my place right now, but i hope all isn't lost yet. a friend of mine has a husband who's really good at retrieving seemingly lost information and if he can't get it for me he has a friend who's even better. i don't mind a little sympathy in the mean time though...

I know just how you feel. I had it happen with my 18GB flash drive last year. I had all my pics, tutorials and many other things stored on it. I sent it up to my nephew and he couldn't retrieve anything, they were toast.

I Know how you would feel as I have about 200 Bollywood films on disk and if the house caught fire they would be the first thing I grabbed 'then I'd come back for my laptop oh and the misses'

esper: it is! i'm gonna see my friend's husband tonight at my party and i'll dump my hard drive on him then, but then i'll walk on needles til i hear the result.
molly: oh no! sorry to hear that, molly, that's just the kind of thing i'm afraid of now. losing all your pics is terrible.
gms9810: thanks, brother! yes, it makes you feel sick with worry.
graechan: Image you have 200 bollywood movies on disc?! i count myself lucky to have two! (sweden isn't the place to live if you like bollywood movies) i'm not sure what your wife thinks of your rescue strategies, but i sure understand them :hehe . you're lucky i'm on the other side of the earth, otherwise i'd put up camp outside your house til you let me borrow some.
