That looks like burnt up wood, excellent effect.

Definitely Chris. I don't know how you did it but did you start with a brick pattern, then desaturate it?

Maybe adding some red under-tones would have it look like burning embers or hot charcoal.

It will be a double feature tutorial. Creating cookie text is exactly the same way.

That's okay, when they are long tutes, I keep saving them and go back to where I marked save on my notes

Here is an example as cookie-text.
I don`t found an good texture so i had buy some real cookies on this morning and create a seamless texture from it.
You need 2 extra brushes too...i will deliver it with the tutorial.
