I'm posting this here so I don't clutter my none GIMP/digital art in with the digital art of this digital art forum.




Time Taken: Aprox. 9-10 hours - over a 2 day period

Materials used:

12 - Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils
7 - Crayola
5 - EK Memory Pencils
5 - Random branded pencils (RoseArt, off-brand ect..)

Total: 29

Markers:
22 - Crayolas
8 - Jo-Ann Fabrics Craft Essentials (Mainly for blending as they are almost dead but also for coloring) [Not Fabric Markers]
1 - Copic ( I only own 3 Copics)

Total: 31

Pens:
0.05, 0.5, 0.8 - Prismacolor fine-liners
0.3, 0.8 - Sakura Pigma MICRON
White Gelly-Role pen - Sakura Brand

Total: 6

Other:
4 Normal Crayola colored pencils - Mostly for shine in the light
Colorless Prismacolor Blender-Pencil - To smooth the colored pencils
Blue ArtStick (Came with the Prismacolor pencils)
White Acrylic Paint + Small brush - Highlights
Knead-able Eraser - o erase sketch lines
Mechanical Pencil -Sketch
Pencil Sharpener - For the Colored Pencils

Wow that is so sweet. Very nice job Moko. Did you draw those on art paper then scan them? You could do a whole book on illustrations for childrens' books.

That's lovely Moko. I like the theme and the colours and you've painted it really well.

I used art paper but I didn't scan them, I took pictures with my lovely cell-phone camera and fixed colors in GIMP.

The more I'm told about the children's books angle the more I'm being opened to it.

it would be so nice if you could do these projects on a tablet as you would get the same look in so much less time! Do you use gimp to make the line art? I have had to use different processes to make signatures in gimp...mostly using the colors filters as I cannot trace worth a darn, so the marker is on a transparent background.

No, I do the lineart in inking pens, but when trying to make it look black and white for posting I have to use filters because I have no scanner to scan with the black and white option.

Moko, even if you could scan it in with a black and white effect, you would probably still need to use filters in gimp. Many scanners end up with artifacts because paper isn't really 100% white!

Excellent work, Moko!! I thoroughly love it. You just get better and better.

Hmm, well the scanners I used to use made it pure black and white, if you looked close to the image looked like it was drawn in paint. :O

77 tools total... makes me appreciate GIMP and MyPaint, where selection is just a push-button away.
