@ Anmal blender evolves in all directions, i'm glad you like this one.
i know you don't like photorealistic stuff made with blender but i'll keep trying to convince you otherwise
@ kimmpi i used two lamps - sun and spot (to lit background plane),
clay render + freestyle just basic settings with one modifier for Color line style

i don't think it's a completely hopeless task - i remember a beautiful picture of some straws of some kind that you posted, i really liked that one.

I think this is a stunning picture, great lighting and shadows, and I love the surreal nature of it. Maybe like a negative view of real life.

So far my attempts to make smooth animation with freestyle render have failed.
The line strokes do not chain properly when i move camera around. I have to figure out how
Blender treats contours with this particular modifier i'm using. Will keep trying tho.

Wow. Impressive. I have Blender, but it confuses me thoroughly trying to use it. Even the basics boggle my brain, so this is doubly impressive to me!
