I am noticing a lot of corruption in the data files which make up the attachments.

I might have to transfer the data over again and see if that helps.

Ok, I found the problem. There is an odd setting in Filezilla that treats files without an extension as ASCII.

I'll have to grab the data files from the old host and upload them again.

It will take several hours to transfer the data files again but it will not affect new posts so I won't have to take the board down.

All the attachments on this board do not have file extensions. From what I understand, filenames are hashed to a code to avoid duplication and other issues.

I'm transferring the attachments over again, which will take several hours. After that, all should be well again.

It won't hurt anything to update the files manually or add new files.

All should be well with the attachments after I re-transfer the data with the new settings in Filezilla.

This does not affect Gimp Scripts. All binary files there have an extension.

Once the transfer is complete, all attachments should be restored to normal.

There were a few orphaned attachments, which have been deleted. This is where someone created an attachment but it wasn't attached to a post, for whatever reason. All attachments should be attached to a specific post, as an attachment or they will get deleted during routine maintenance.

If you need to upload an image to use in a signature, use the upload button and copy the link to use in your sig line.

Yes, but the filezilla issue really threw a monkey wrench into my plans.

Where I work they were supposed to do a "trivial" software update to one of the (Windows) servers, that should have taken all of five minutes. We'll be lucky if it's finished at the end of the weekend

As rule, when dealing with computers:
- estimate time
- double that
- take the next time unit up

- 5 minutes -> 10 hours
- 2 days -> 4 weeks

etc...

Tux, today I had to log in twice. I logged in and then it required another login to post replies. Is this intentional?

Erisian, it might have something to do with the DNS not being fully propagated. Sometimes, there is bounce back to the old host during the first 24-48 hours.

I had to go to OpenDNS's site and input the gimpchat page then I finally was able to get into GIMPChat. Was able to get into the GIMPScripts site no problem though.

Gimp Scripts was moved over last week, Lyle. I guess the DNS is still propagating here. Not much we can do about that except wait.
