Love the way you create serenity with a soft light powder blue sky with white cotton puffy clouds, soft sunlight rays, and vivid wildflowers. Are the other flowers a type of water iris?
It seems Blackback has a smile and is content. The trollgirl's entire bottom half of face is dark, a slight lip crease might impress a smile more than the darkened area.
My opinion is, if he is comfortable, she should be more so, so her smile should be just as evident, if not more so?
I will go back to do some changes to the characters, due to critique here and elsewhere. I didn't really intend them to be smiling too much though since the idea is to show them sleeping/dozing, not hugging. It's kinda difficult to show the sleepy slack-jaw in a troll though ...

The flowers are a type of water lilies I think.

There is only one thing that bothers me. The waterfall is so small in comparison to the rest of the picture. If the bank of flowers to the left of the waterfall were cut smaller and the waterfall and stream widened at that point, I think it would look more proportional and in better perspective. The waterfall would be a short one but more proportional to the painting.

Thanks for the descriptive pointer! I see what you mean, not sure I agree that it's proportionally wrong. The waterwall could well be wider but the problem is moving the edge further to the left might put into question the height relative the water at which the trolls are sleeping. I'll look into it.

Minor nitpick, Blackback's pose is a bit hard to figure out.
Yes, I need to go back and add some more explicit shadows there. Thanks!

I painted it from scratch. If you look below my signature, you'll find a host of tutorials I have written on how to go about painting on the computer.
