moko: it's a deal, sister! i'll get to work on the front view as soon as possible and you will have to do the 3/4 view! but i can tell you at once my front view won't look as nicely rounded and 3d as yours.
erisian: you know i live to be mean to my elders!

mokonafan: when it comes to erisian you're probably right - i suspect he can actually cook. doesn't that mean i should be a bit extra mean to him though? after all, he gets to eat good home cooked meals and i only get boring readymade stuff from the convenience store - how unfair :gaah

but here comes my result with the front view of the nose - ta-taa!
i know it's far from perfect, but it really worked out a lot better than i had expected, so i'm very proud of it and i'm going to try and stay proud of it no matter what anyone else might think of it, because i'm sure this is one of the very best front view noses i have ever made and that means i have learned a little and made progress! :yes

mokonafan: oh no, sister, don't be ashamed! :ffy you're doing good, don't worry! i'm thinking we should ask our "teacher" here to add a little bit of face around his noses, so the whole thing gets really easy to understand. so far, you have a working profile view with a hint of 3/4 view at the tip and nostrils and if you look at an example that doesn't have the full context of a face i think it's easy to get there if you're not really used to 3/4 view already (it's my favourite angle for faces both in photos and paintings, so like i said i usually do better at noses in this view).
Image
here's a rough 3/4 face - i see i forgot to make a line to mark the top of the nose for the near side, but never mind, erisian's example nose should fit into this view alright. you can see just a little of the far side nostril and nose wing, that's important.
now don't say things like "it looks nothing like a nose!" young lady :hoh ! your nose just needs a little more turning towards the viewer and it will be a nose to make any wearer proud :).

(oh, and you'd better keep quiet about your cooking skills or i might have to be mean to you too :hehe )

Thinking in 3D can be difficult Moko. If it helps try looking for photos of noses on Bing or Flickr and use them as reference. Your technique is fine, you just need to tweak the shape a little. try using Auntie AnMal's example as a guide but don't listen to her when she goes on about stuff. She still thinks coffee is undrinkable!

Sorry Auntie Anma, I forgot to say how good I think your front view is. You're quite an artist.
