Just made some little experiments with Resynthesizer v.1.0, and I'm curious about other gimp-chatters' experience.
My trials:
1-heal selection : good results
2-heal transparency : good results
3-map style : strange and useless results
4-render texture: strange results
5-enlarge&sharpen: terrible sharpening effects
6-edit seamlessly: doesn't work on a transparent layer (not a big problem, just had to fill the default new transparent image with a solid colour before calling the plug-in), but strange transformations of the chosen pattern
7-sharpen: again terrible sharpening effects
8-uncrop: rarely usable results
Now, as a summary:
- good for removing objects (but now we have in Gimp also the excellent G'mic inpaint patch based)
- more or less useless for the other capabilities
Did somebody get useful results with this plug-in set (except for the healing tool, which is good)?
Thanks

...having passed four days with no post, I assume nobody here uses resynthesizer.
"Once upon a time" it was one of the most appreciated by the gimpers; time changes...

I'm only using #1. Tried #2 couple of times and as far as i can remember it took forever to accomplish the task.
Tested #3-8 right after installation. Wasn't impressed and haven't used them since, so there's nothing really i can say.

I will just post my issue here.
I have downloaded this script from the sites that contained it.
I download it and place it into the plugins folder and nothing shows up.

I don't understand, why it won't work for me.

I have only used it to remove unwanted objects. It worked fine for that. I haven't used it for a long time as it is on my pc version, and I always use my mac now.

2-ton,

Resynthesizer has been included in McGimp since I have been building it. :)

I never used it on the mac yet, I haven't explored all the different Mcgimp filters and G'mics...so many filters, so little time!

It isn't showing at Filters>Map>Resynthesize after placing them in the plugins folder?
There should be two files.
Resynthesizer.exe AND resythesizer-gui.exe

It didn't show up under the menu. I got as far as the smartremove.scm file. Then, it told me, a file was missing. The Resynthesizer file.

Do you have wrap map installed? It is under filters > Map > Wrapmap. I think you have to have that installed before you can run resynthesizer.

I know this is an old thread.

I attempted to download the Resynthesizer plugin' again. The Resynthesizer shows up under Map. The script for Smart Remove Selection does not work for some reason but other script smart-enlarge works.

When I tried the script out to remove an object..It did the complete opposite. It placed another part of the image in its place.. I don't know, what is up with that.

There was an update to resynthesizer and the smart remove presets were done in python. These scripts worked. Not sure if they have a MAC version for the updated 1.0 plugin. Click below for details. About to head out of dodge (night shift) but others may be able to help. :)
