I've tried every glossy, shiny, melty, plastic, glassy tutorial I can find and so far I haven't even come close to the text effect in this image.

Is there a font type that comes close to it?

I've been searching. Also have a request in a font newsgroup to see if someone in there can identify.

This one has a few similar characteristics but is not very close.

The font looks good, Rod.

This is the final reply I got in the font newsgroup. Character, the guy who wrote it, is a total expert on fonts and makes a lot of totally excellent fonts.

Quote:
Although it looks familiar, I'm thinking that it's a graphic alphabet and not a font. Either that or someone expended an awful lot of effort to carefully high-light the interiors, essentially creating an alphabet.

I think the php script is the closest we're going to get. I liked the O in that image with it's brief curl at the top.

Try checking out some free comic fonts on Blambot, some come close (a few pay fonts do, but you know how that goes) but there are some pretty close free ones. The ones noted with a grey F are free, and be sure to look through all of the offerings (dialogue, sound fx, design, and symbol), there are several. Take a peek at Ladylike font...

This is Ladylike font with gel 3d effect:

My bad, I used Glossy Stroke 3D effect and incorrectly stated Gel effect (I was up too late).

I've actually been using Glossy Stroke 3D a lot lately. More reasons that I'm happy I got Python finally installed with GIMP. Just wish the gurus can get the newest versions of Python to be GIMP friendly (via Windows that is). :)

I have mine set to use Python version 2.6
I've got 2.4,2.5, and 2.7 installed but 2.6 seems to run the best.
Although getting my Lorem Ipsum generator to work seems like an all day job.
I even downloaded the engine, and still can't get it to work.
