There are also a number of good scripts for adding a Watermark to a Image

GIMP-2.8.8 seems to have a few new bugs.

I would stick with GIMP-2.8.6 from Parthas website until those are fixed. After adding new scripts to GIMP-2.8.8 it refreshes very slowly. Has anyone else had this issue?

Also the lib/gimp/2.0/environs/pygimp.env file is missing so no python modules function. This can be fixed but it is advisable you wait until the bug is fixed.

Yes I'm having issues with menus not rendering as they should (inconsistently).
