Almost everything about Christmas is torture - the stress of shopping in a town center packed with people desperately looking for the latest techno gadget to ruin their little sods with, the sudden expense of things that were once half that price, the list goes on and on and on and it is totally unbelievable that we put ourselves through it every year. Wrestling with yards of thin and easily damageable wrapping paper is one of the things I most despise but one thing stands out a million miles above all this - CELLOTAPE! Its the same every year. You are desperately trying to stick one darn piece of wrapping paper down and you are unable to keep control of both paper and cellotape and the cellotape collapses and sticks to itself. :gaah Having failed on numerous occasions to find the end so that I can wrestle with the next piece of wrapping paper, I craftily decide to create an end by slicing a line across the roll. Clever me..... I now have another problem because between my new end and the original end, there isn't much cellotape. Anyway, to cut a long moan short, I was thinking of how utterly unbelievable it is that cellotape was ever allowed to exist! What do you guys think?

Cellotape is alien technological and so is Velcro. It was one of the thing that came out of Area 51 reverse engineering. :hehe

Adhesive tape -- whether cellophane, packaging, masking, or duct -- is one of those products where I avoid the discount brands and dollar store knockoffs. The name brand, high quality stuff may cost four times as much, but it is money well spent to minimize the frustrations you describe (and I am a particularly parsimonious person).

Christmas to me has just become so obviously commercial. Family together is what is most important in my humble opinion. Especially in these economic times. Everyone will be in debt come next year and the banks love it.
It's the banks that are evil not the tape. ;)

Use Gorilla tape. They will never get that sucker open. :lol

There is far too much money grabbing going on and far too much stress. Thankfully, outside of all that there is a lot of genuine goodwill amongst people. It's nice for example when strangers who wouldn't normally talk to you wish you a happy Christmas. I agree with you about families. Christmas wouldn't be the same without one.
Gorilla tape? - I'll have to look into that! :hehe

Yes, it is evil Not only does it frustrate prezzie wrappers (and unwrappers), over the many years of its reign of terror it has destroyed millions of comic books and other valuable artifacts.
