I really wanted to try a few PS tuts to see if I could sort of replicate it using Gimp. This was my first and, although it's not exactly right on it came pretty close.

Nice work there, Dalia. You got a nice textured look there and the embroidery on the word looks convincing. PS tuts can be a pain to convert sometimes but when they work the results are usually pretty good.

I agree with Caz. You've done a very nice job. I like the blurred background as it allows the focal point to standout even more. Texturing is quite nice. Maybe you should write a tutorial? ;)

Thank you everyone. The texture on the word was actually a fiber"ish" pattern supplied that I couldn't convert so I did a quick search for something comparable.

As for a tutorial/converting someone else's tutorial (if it's allowed), I could try?

People have in the past adapted PS tutorials and posted their tutorials here so it should be OK.

dalia: that's soooo pretty! well done on that - it's not easy to follow ps tuts since gimp does things differently, but your result looks good anyway.

This looks very good and yes you can create a tutorial if you like and post it here. If you feel better you can add that you got the tutorial idea from a PS tut and give a link. Or you don't have to it's up to you.
On another note as far as i know an isn extension is for a windows install file. What is a isn pattern file and what opens it? Perhaps a script could be written to convert isn to jpg or png.

Thank you Erisian, AnMal, Rod and conbagui.

Rod, my apologies, I meant to write fiber"ish" but auto correct changed it and I didn't notice. It was a PS pattern that I couldn't convert.

conbagui, I like them too - I've learned some really nice workarounds from you so, thank you!
