Those of us in the Southeast are getting hammered by this storm right now. It's very nasty. So far, we have had 5"-6" of snow and there has been heavy sleet and freezing rain for the last 5 hours. We are expecting it change back to snow overnight, with 4" to 5" more inches of accumulation on top of all that.

It's a big mess.

I'm just hoping I don't lose power.

We lucked out this time. Only going to get a good change of ice on bridges tonight. Right now, it's still above freezing so I believe we are completely in the clear.

I've lost six class days due to snow :/ I don't think I'll ever catch up this semester.

We've been having storm problems in the UK too with gales of up to 90 mph. A lot of the south west has suffered really badly and is underwater. Although they forecast snow in some areas, I think it's been mostly rain.

I saw in last nights news Eris that England had record rain falls this year. It also showed all the flooding.

Once upon a time I was thinking of moving down to somerset but I'm glad I stayed in Swindon now. We seem to escape the worst of this stuff.

Fortunately here in the NYC metro area, the rain washed away most of the snow, however, they are predicting another 2-4 inches to start at the same time I'm supposed to leave work.

We dodged a lot of the snow here, too. After the first 5-6 inches of snow, we had a major sleet storm, which lasted about 12 hours. If all of that sleet had been snow, there is no telling how deep the accumulation would have been.

It warmed up pretty good today and it's supped to be in the 50's this weekend, so I imagine all the snow will be melted soon.

We just got another 6 inches in the night. Looks beautiful out there. I don't care, as long as I don't have to go out.

göteborg hasn't had a winter this bad (=warm and rainy) for many years and all i long for is some nice, fresh below-zero air and that beautiful white snow covering the ground....

It's so wet here that if it did snow it would just dissolve into sludge immediately.

North west ohio has had it's share of snow…our driveway is like going through a tunnel since there is so much snow plowed up along the sides, and I have to wear boots to get to the car because the wind keeps making drifts across where we shoveled a walkway. But on a good note, we did not get this last storm, we lucked out on that.

According to Nathan's in Coney Island, there are fewer than 150 days until July 4th, so all of us in the Northern Hemisphere can begin a countdown until (slightly) better weather.

Edit, My apologies to the Aussies who dwell here, hope you don't have the same winter we did.

I saw William and Harry on the news last night helping with the sand bags to help prevent some flooding.
The royal family has come a long way since Princess Diana.

It's nice when the royals do something to help out, that's why I've got a lot of respect for princess Anne. There is a certain cynicism in England about the royals which I won't go into here because it can get political, but that would certainly change if we saw more of this kind of thing.

Well, it has been a long time coming but Kate will add a lot to the mix, she is down to earth and very genuine and so are the two princes. Harry is a riot, what you see is what you get.
