Molly, can you post an XCF file of your image after you've run the script (but before you try painting, stroking, or filling)?

Molly, with your image as provided, I am able to do any of the following:
  • Edit->Stroke Path
  • Select->From Path; Edit->Stroke Selection
  • Select->From Path; Edit->Fill With FG Color

I would, however, recommend that you create a new layer to paint/stroke on; your text layer happens to be large enough that the path lies fully within it, but that is not necessarily going to be the case. (And any painting, filling, or stroking needs to have a layer on which to operate).

Ok, Saul, thanks, I will try again, ... now how were you able to get rid of the original text out of the same layer I ran the script on? That was also a problem.
EDIT: Making the layers was the problem I guess, I have done this before but not often enough to remember. I really like that script a lot Saul. I am going to try a real crazy shape next, lol
Here is a combo of your script and Tux's.

Molly the script has a few basic rules to follow to get a result at all times if you are still having problems let me know

Thats what I was doing last night Graechan and I used dingbats too complicated for the script to handle. There was six dingbat letters and it took one hour for each one and then crashed in the middle of the third one.
The font was called Driver. way too complicated for this. Nice job on the penguins though.
EDIT:
I made another one with the eyes font. Everything looked like it was going along well, but at the end, I still ended up with all the little circles around the fonts.
oops, forgot to turn off the bezier tool, that fixed it. :oops:

finished product. Saulgoode, that script is amazing. I was sitting there watching the performance it goes through and it is mind boggling.

Even with inkscape you need a fast computer for that Drivers font, struggles on this old 3GHz dual core.

That is cool Rich. I do have a fast computer. I think if I would have used smaller font it would have gone through the steps faster. I had my layer 1000 pixels wide, so had a lot of ground to cover. I must try that font again, It was taking one hr per letter last night.
BTW Rich, you have a very nice clear British voice on your vids.

And displacement mapping?

o, okay I thought you used the displacement map. I didn't know you could run the warp text on anything except text, including ding bats.

Molly, I believe that tonysteele only used the Warp Text script on the "LIONS" text (in order to shape its bottom to match the football logo).

The Warp Text script will work on arbitrary paths (after all, text is just a bunch of paths), but it will not work on bitmapped graphics such as layers. For what it's worth, I hear the GIMP developers have been making good progress on converting Iwarp from a plug-in to a tool so that it works directly on the canvas. This feature should be available when GIMP 2.10 is eventually released.

I agree. I was talking about displacement mapping, to make the text fit to the flag. Also, I downloaded and messed around with the 2.9 development package. It indeed has the iwarp directly to canvas: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9715

Molly I misunderstood your question, but saulgoode explained it.
After the displacement I bumped-mapped the image, using the flag as the bump map.
