Is it possible to create something like this in Gimp?

I think it could be done with paths, but my guess is that it would take a lot of layers.
Our path experts here could probably guide you better on this.

A lot of paths and Text to path (in the paths tool options) would be involved along with a lot of layers. I don't think there is an easy way but with patience it can be done.

I'm not on my usual computer so I can't test but here's a thought, use text brushes. I noticed in the image there are only a few different paths for the text. You could reuse a couple of different wavy paths, change the text and use a text brush in different sizes to apply. There are some text to path scripts that could be helpful, one of ofnuts maybe?

This might be a crazy idea but it seems possible. I don't have Gimp handy so maybe someone can try it out and reply.

Definitely. Given the number of text bits to bend, and since this has been mentioned, my own text-to-path script may end up being more productive than the regular text-to-path (if only because it will also tell you the required path length for your text).
