GIMP Version: 2.8.10
Operating System: Mac OS
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Gimp 2.8.10 stoped working on my Mac with OS 10.6.8. When I click on the icon, it flashes out like when it is about to open, but it never does. Any help is appreciated.

Was it working all along or did you just install it? Where did you install your gimp for Mac from?

I do not use it daily, but It was working and one day that I tried to open it, it did not open. It is strange because when I click the icon, it responds to the click just as it does when it is to open. After several tries, I removed it and all of its associated files by using an application removal tools called AppCleaner. I downloaded Gimp again from its website and installed it again. However, it does not work anyway. I then installed the latest X11 program, although I believe Gimp does not need anymore, and Gimp still does not work.

Did you get your Mac version from Parthas place? It is supposed to be a very good version.

There may still be some folder/files left over.
You have to be 100% sure that you removed everything, before installing a new version of Gimp. If anything is left behind it could effect any other Gimp installation.
I know nothing about your OS, so I can't tell you where to look for any such left over folders/files.

Have you ever tried CCleaner?
Maybe this program can find any stray stuff form your previous installation of Gimp.
You can download the free version of it here... http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download?mac
