Hey guys,
almost done with the new version:
Lots of new features
Changed dialog layout (because of this, now two separate versions will be available for Gimp 2.6 and 2.8)
Instead of carrying formulas from FV to the VP dialog, now you just copy points (2 clicks)
Some bug fixes, thanks to your feedback.

There is a problem with the Scale feature due to the fact that Gimp scales paths to top left rather than center and there is no way to specify scale origin.
But it's there anyway.
Everything is complete except some dialog functionality (i.e. disable/enable additional options based on selected options)

here is GUI:

Nicely done B and P. :)
Thanks for the update news, and also for offering it for both Gimp-2.6 and Gimp-2.8 versions.

I really can not wait to test this newest release.

Hey there!
Alright, it is taking me longer then expected to polish off everything, so there is no point waiting any longer.
The package for Gimp 2.7/2.8 is available now, 2.6 will follow.
The dialog functions (enabling/disabling relevant sections) are not yet complete, but these are cosmetics.
Have a go at it and show what you can come up with. Also report bugs, of course.;)

I don't know if all features are self explanatory, but I don't have any time right now to do a tutorial. Just post questions here or on my site.

Quick tip for those discouraged by the seemingly required math knowledge:
image above uses only a 2 point path (a line) with 36 strokes rotated and offset somewhat.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

Just got back from my mini road trip (gas is down to $2.95/gal; glad but it needs to go to at least $2.50 for me to be content (not happy; just content; lol)) a few minutes ago and just downloaded the zip again; cool that it's all there now B&P. It works quite well too. Thanks. :)

Looks like something cool to play with if I ever tire with MM.

Couldn't you use a macro recorder/replayer to save/restore your presets? I use Autohotkeys on Windows (but there must dozens of others) and was thinking of doing similar for Mathmap to save/reload my user values. Write/record a script with your settings in and get the macro program to "type" them into the right places on the dialogs. You'd have a separate script - which could be copied and tweaked - for each of your patterns.

Have a problem with the formula viewer, I get an error saying something to the effect that windows could not open "C:\Program Files\Gimp 2\32\lib\gimp\2.0\python\formula_viewer2.pyw" because it was an unknown file type. The vector path plugin runs as normal however. Any suggestions on how to get the formula viewer running with the plugin? (I am running windows 7 64 bit, gimp version 2.8.2, full install) Any help will be apprectiated, Thanks

I have the official 64bit version and that is the correct path for the python folder

This is a list of my files and there paths

C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\32\lib\gimp\2.0\python\formula_viewer.pyw
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\32\lib\gimp\2.0\python\formula_presets.csv
C:\Users\Graechan\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\b&p_vector_path_1.py
My install works fine

I just got gimp 2.8 recently. other than a few changes, we get along ok. :) But, yesterday, I started trying to do some plug ins, since I know that python is already on it. to my frustration I can NOT figure out what to do... there are so many more files and when I saw the above, I was like... YES! (I had no idea about that file, and if Rod hadn't commented on it being odd, I would've ignored it, so thank you both, but I'm still sooooooo frustrated!!!! :gaah :gaah :gaah and no freaking clue what to do. le sigh... so any and all help would be appreciated.. I have a windows 8, also.. which I dont love.. its a 64 bit.. I dont even know what that means... lol.... but I dont love change much. again, thank youuuu!

Hey guys, it's been awhile! I don't think I can help, as I am not to good with all these installation procedures, but just to share my experience. I have new system at the office :

GIMP 2.8.10
Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532)
I just dropped all my plugs in C:\Users\[username]\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins

and it's all showing up and works (except for Glossy button 1 generator).

I have Windows 8 64-bit at home and Gimp 2.8 as well (I believe), I think I got my plugs there as well. Will double check when I get home and post here.

Leigh after install per↓

Quote:
Vector Path v2.0
Python plug-in for Gimp v2.6/2.8 (separate packages)
2012 - Jun - 19

To Install:
1. Place the b&p_vector_path2.py to your plug-ins folder (usually ~gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins)

2. To use assistant app, place the formula_viewer2.pyw and formula_presets2.csv to your gimp python folder (usually ~lib\gimp\2.0\python) but for 64bit gimp may be 32/lib/gimp/2.0/python

and after restarting your gimp the filter location is Filters/Bytes and Pixels.com/Vector Path
