Tried, with detail put all to max values.
Quite a good result, thanks GC

You can focus on only the very darkest areas by moving the "Centre" slider closer to zero (and keep the highlight detail low), if the result is too harsh the smooth slider can help. There are of course limits depending on your input image :yup

It is amazing what you can do. I know I got carried away with the sliders but with practice, I could make it much better.
Yours is really nice dinasset.

The Mantiuk and Fattal GEGL operations are in the same family of filters as Retinex and might be worth experimenting with.

Wow, thanks dinasset.
As I mentioned before, many times. I think it would take a life time to really learn all there is know, and find them in Gimp.
This is why I never venture out to other apps. If it isn't in Gimp, then it doesn't exist.
This forum also has many helpful members that are willing to share what they know, and glad to do it.

Not yet. There was a project that allowed Python plug-ins to employ GEGL ops but it hasn't been updated in two years; however, if one were able to get it working then a script could use the 'python-fu-eval' procedure to invoke it.

I'm amazed at how much you all who know about scripts and how much research you do about it. I just wanted to thank who are helping to get a fantastic script for your great effort. :clap :)

Gracias, Saulgoode, garagecoder and Dinasset. :tyspin

I did some more experiments with GC filter (G'MIC - Testing - Garagecoder - Tone enhance).
Outcomes are -imo- very very good.
I want to show them to you:
- Orig.zip folder contains 7 images taken from Windows 7 Background Themes
- GC.zip folder contains the same images after my use of GC filter
After these nice results I put that filter on my G'MIC Faves

Thanks GC, for this filter!
