The script makes a nice frame. I used the bump feature on this one.

just a little note of a possible use of this excellent script, thank you GnuTux

1. file>newImage 640x400 white or other color

2. write a text I used Font SIGNBOARD , size 100 , distant 10

3. Filters>Deco>Gradient-Stroke ( version 1.2) change only stroke width to 5 OK ; name the layer FIVE

4. click on the text layer and call again Gradient-stroke script and tag bump the stroke , OK name the layer BUMP

5. click on the text layer and call again Gradient-stroke script and ONLY tag outer stroke , OK name the layer OUTER

6. click on the text layer and call again Gradient-stroke script and tag bump the stroke AND outer stroke , OK name the layer BOTH

if you play with the visibility of the four layers (FIVE, BUMP, OUTER, BOTH) you can have a lot of different logos!!!!
(exemple: esclude OUTER and FIVE or esclude only OUTER...)

here is the file

GnuTux would it be possible to add a stroke-position adjustment as the code is simple and relies on creating an outer-selection-channel
Image
if set to 50 it allows you to stroke along the selection like Stroke Selection does

Greachan, I like the suggestion but I'm tied up with a couple of other projects at the moment. If you'd like to add code to do that, please feel free to do so.

Not sure what approach you have in mind, but the only caveat I'd have to incorporating something like that would be to ensure no accuracy is lost if the same selection is both shrank and grown.

I've updated the script to V1.3, which cleans up the interface, adds an option for "Bump Depth" and corrected an issue when using this script on a layer with no alpha channel.

Gradient Stroke V1.3 available on GIMP Scripts.

Looks good O, Marcello & Issabella. :jumpclap

I like the idea of double or triple stroking, using different gradients. Clicking on "Keep Script's Selection" can facilitate doing that. ;)

GnuTux when you changed the default gradient to 'Metallic Something' you entered "Metallic Something #1" instead of "Metallic Something"

Very nice results by everyone! :jumpclap

Gradient Stroke Updated to V1.4

Updates include graduated stroke positioning: Inner to Outer, as well as better selection handling, making multiple strokes with different gradients fast and easy.

Considering Graechan's contributors to the script, he and I will co-share authorship.
Thanks, Graechan! :hi5

Unless there are unforeseen bugs, this should be the last update, Molly, at least for now.
