Thank you Dietmar, I like your tutorial a lot. I tried it adding a pattern, too. ;)

I found a very nice one in Bing Images that I like and showed it to Wallace and he reproduced it and did a steller job. It is almost identical.
I am trying to figure out how he did it but I am not having very good luck so far.
bing image on left... Wallace on right I am jealous.

It is beautiful what Wallace did. Perhaps he could give us some pointers or help to get it. :) I am jealous too. :)

Nice, thank you!

I usually save tutorials here by printing to PDF, but that has the disadvantage of having a lot of not-wanted webpage objects with it.

Hi,

what I noticed when I was again playing with this tutorial for my own wallpaper, were the "steps" seen in the gradient layers (horizontal lines, see pic below, or increase the zoom view in the tutorial pics to view it).

This looks very nasty on my background.

I tried
a) adaptive supersamping in the gradient
b) blur filters
c) GMIC anisotropic smoothing

but nothing helped. Any ideas how I can get rid of them?

Dietmar

There must be something super natural ( ;) ) about this excellent tut; 3 times yesterday I started it and 3 times yesterday I was into my third 'nose' when our power supply was cut off.

I will have another attempt today!
