Yep! See Mike, your's isn't crap, just another way to do the same thing differently. :)

A cop arrives at the scene of an accident and has 30 witnesses who all tell him 30 different, but similar accounts of what they saw. Does that mean one person of the 30 had the correct account and the other 29 were wrong? Not at all.

I haven't tried this, but it does make me wonder what throwing curves on your gradient selection would do. I'll check that out later and report back.

@ mahvin: You are so right on there about results. Color curves sound interesting on a colored gradient.

This is just a piece off a corner of a frame that I used a pattern, then the Flare Glow Angular 1 gradient (set to Angular shape) on the pattern layer. Used the default color in Colorized, raised the saturation to 100 and lowered the lightness to what I wanted.

Oh, mahvin, that was a faux pas on my part. That's what I get for not clicking the quote button. I've fixed the post.

I've been playing around with this for a few days, on and off. I might go back on this one and redo the curves on the frame. I kind of buried them under the texture ...

I'm not entirely thrilled with the way I killed the depth of the frame but I do like how the actual giraffe texture matches the image. I meant to redo this and forgot about it until now ... off to play. :hehe

Mike: What layer mode do you have the pattern on? Maybe I should add this to my existing tutorial. I've seen PM, Lyle, and Rod contribute similar techniques, perhaps we should all converge the variety into one brief tutorial, showing images with results. Just an idea...

On that one I had one set to multiply and another above it set to burn.
I think I also ran a bevel and emboss on the frame. It certainly appears that way.
This one is one one multiply and another above it set to hard light.
I also added a 2px black path stroke under the inner bevel of the frame, just because I can. :)
This tutorial has been a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing it.

Mahvin if you are talking about this kind of effect
Image

It is very easily done by creating a layer with the pattern fill you want - rendering an object - alpha to select the object
select the pattern layer - edit/copy - select the rendered layer - edit paste into.
This creates a new floating layer
Select new layer to create a cutout pattern of your selection
Now delete the pattern fill layer and set your new pattern selection layer to overlay mode.
This will create the effect of the pattern wrapped around the rendered object.

Great frames,
My issue is when I try to open wrapmap, it crashes Gimp. using win7 and Gimp 2.8.

How do you "open" it? Filters>Map>Wrap bitmap?
