Please help me with the gimp beautify plug-in. I unzipped the file and installed the four .exe files in :
C:\Program files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins.

It works well. However, when I unzipped the rip-border and texture-border files, the program is not able to recognize them. I have tried putting them in several different folders of the gimp directory but to no avail. I even took the jpegs out of their folders and put them in the plug-in file but that didn’t work either.

Could someone please show me exactly which folder in the directory they go? I guess I need the entire directory list to see where I am going wrong. Frustrating! Tried to figure it out myself before asking, but I am not getting it!

Thank you in advance for your help.

@Pat625. I looked all over for my beautify files and can't find them anywhere, I even did a search. I do have the full beautify under Filters > Beautify.
I looked in my profile folders and also did a search. I think mine was part of my Fedora installation or my Gimp-2.8.14 installed by Terminal.
Sorry, I couldn't help but I am sure someone else can.

Pat625 this is where the plugins and folders should be installed for Win operating systems
The .exe files should be in your 'gimp directory' C:\Users\username\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins
The folders rip-border and texture-border should be in your 'gimp directory' C:\Users\username\.gimp-2.8

In Fedora it is all in one. The Beautify is in plug-ins and that must include the rip-border and the texture-border because there are no .exe files in Linux and I have them all included in the Beautify icon.

Thanks to those who searched for an answer for me. I did put the border files in the suggested folders and everything worked well!. I do not understand why it had to be through the user gimp directory and not the c:\Program Files\Gimp directory. I had initially installed gimp in the program files so that the rest of family could use it. Will it work in Program Files directory? The directory listings are different at the different levels than they are in the user directory.

Pat625 are you the administrator of the computer sys, if so can you log in under another users name to test if they have access to to gimp and the beautify plugin

When Gimp starts it looks for files first in the global folders and then in the user folders. In your case the 2 Beautify support folders can be in either Gimp global folder or user folder. If other family members have their own user names on the computer use the global folder.

Odin do you mean put the plugins and the additional folders in C:\Program files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins

or put the plugins in C:\Program files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins
and the additional folders in C:\Program files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0

I had originally installed the exe files to C:\Program Files\gimp 2\lib\gimp\2.0\Plug-ins.

The rip border and Textures in the c:\Program Files\gimp 2\lib\gimp\2.0 and could not access the additional borders. I am not at my own computer now but when I am I will check to see if other users can use the Beautify program and access all the borders.

Pat625 then maybe your additional folders and the .exe files should be in C:\Program Files\gimp 2\lib\gimp\2.0\Plug-ins

His Beautify plug-in files, as I understand it, are currently in his global plug-in folder. I was only referring to the support folders. My Linux install has all the plug-ins & support files in user folder. I have not tried them both together in the global folder. What works for me is not the definitive Beautify install instructions at Gimp Script. It's been awhile since I've used Windows so I can't verify that end.

Pat625,

Try following the instructions here: http://gimpscripts.com/2014/02/beautify/
They should be fairly easy to follow. With those instructions, that's how I got beautify to work.

what this doesn't tell you is that is the folders go under your User Files:
For example mine went here: Users>Mackenzie>.gimp-2.8... each folder (rip-border, texture border,) for Beautify goes in your user files

\gimp-2.8\plug-ins\
beautify.exe
border.exe
simple-border.exe
skin-whitening.exe

Extra Borders Folders:
\gimp-2.8\
rip-border\
texture-border\

The simple-border file goes here: .gimp-2.8>plug-ins. You should have a Beautify folder that houses the beautify apps (Beautify, Skin-whitening, border, and simple-border) I hope that helps and makes sense.

Are there two beautify filters. I could swear I had one that had pages and pages of filters but now all I have is one that makes text or logo shiny??? Maybe they have moved it or my last update of mcgimp didn't have it.

As far as I know there's only one and it's a plugin.
Is this what you're referring to...

I found this site:http://gimpforums.com/thread-beautify-s-libgimp2-0-dev

Hopefully answer some questions. There might be an incompatibility with the new version you downloaded, or with your operating system.
