That's about right (between 1 to 2 for 1000 and around 10 for 2000 is around 5 times). :)

On my old laptop (GMIC 1.6.9, Gimp 2.9.3, Vista 32 bit, 1.73 GHz, 1.0 GB RAM) - the default settings - 16 minutes.

I have a question - or plans to develop versions (all your plugins) to the Gimp 2.9?

Now it works - but just a lot of messages:

.........................................................
called deprecated procedure 'gimp_levels'.
It should call 'gimp_drawable_levels' instead!

.........................................................
called deprecated procedure 'gimp_brightness_contrast'.
It should call 'gimp_drawable_brightness_contrast' instead!

.........................................................
called deprecated procedure 'gimp_hue_saturation'.
It should call 'gimp_drawable_hue_saturation' instead!

.........................................................
called deprecated procedure 'gimp-brightness-contrast'.
It should call 'gimp-drawable-brightness-contrast' instead!

....e.t.c

As I understand it, the beta GIMPs have these messages happen by default for certain filters and such MararoQ. Not sure you can turn these dialog boxes off. :)

thanks MareroQ !
The problem is that I now use 2.8.16 and when I browse the PDB I omit using "deprecated procedures", but there are only listed as deprecated those of previous (< 2.8) releases.
Thus, I guess it will be a big and generalized problem for all the coders to modify all the filters to adhere to the new standard, but very likely when 2.10 will be officially relased.

Thanks for the info on response time. I guess that -if you like to use, not only test, the filter- you may set the size parameter to 1500, still good results but it takes then half the time with respect to 2000

P.S.
If the ONLY change will be the name of the filter(s), some code editors are smart enough to accept "replace all occurrences on all open files" from-to.
Hopefully it will be then quick

Following the indications of Souphead (thanks) I prepared a "faster" version of the filter, which I post here.
Maybe at the end it will replace the "official" one.
These are the modifications:
- internal
the number of different shape sizes has been reduced from 7 to 3
the max size has been reduced to still provide nice results
- external
default is now for overlap=1
default is now hexagon shape

Using this one on the same image with the same outcome size (2000) the execution time has been reduced from 2'45" to 1'45", thus other people may now try the filter.

Nice results guys!

Remember if you have MareroQ's resource manager scripts to go to Filters>Script-Fu>Script's Manager and tick bevel reflect logo.zip to add it to the gimp menus or you will get an error for bevel reflect logo to alpha not found. :)

Dinasset, that photo you took it's very nice in all kind of filters. Nice election. :)

I wondered how it would be the result applying it on cartoons or draws. So here it's the result. :)

It seems that people of Gimp-chat is "terrified" from the perspective of trying a new filter which runs for minutes.
I already posted a quicker version of it, but no use so far except from my friend Issabella.
Thus I decided to create an even faster version, to let all of you experimenting.

It takes on my PC 0'35", hence a very reasonable time.

I standardized the inernal dimension of the work image and the overlap (those 2 parameters disappeared).
In addition it rescale the internal image to the original size when the latter has dimension width+height < 2400,
otherwise it rescale to this limit.

I hope to see other Gimp-chatters posting now their experiments...

Here is the new version (it may coexist with previous ones):

an example to show that result is still quite acceptable:

Fine Rod, but I guess many other people have, hence I deducted they fear the performances (usually there are more chatters experimenting new filters, at least once or twice....).
The last version is quick and has constant response time.
Those who do not have problems with the response time using the original version, better continuing with that one: more flexibility on the parameters

Thanks for your new faster version, but I keep the previous one as it works great and doesn't take long time. this one took a little more than 1 minute :)

So sorry for being late to the party! I had many other things to do, plus a helacious migraine. Now my computer is giving me fits again. Something happened the other day (I really don't know what). Since then I have had odd problems with the computer. With Gimp, I can resize the window until I open an image. Then if I do the program automatically shuts down completely! I have re downloaded Gimp several times but no change. When this initially happened, I lost all the icons in my taskbar. I have never had that happen before. When I used control panel erase the program, it erased all versions of Gimp I had. Also, all filters that have to run a few minutes starts non responding. Sometimes it finishes OK, other times get errors and shuts down. I was able to do a few images tonight. Love this filter!
