I was thinking about this.
And in my head:
a left and right swap then a top and bottom swap = center and corners swap
a top and bottom swap then a left and right swap = center and corners swap
so there's no way to scramble the picture is there?
I mean in my head i am thinking because it's seamless a left right is like a view box moving over the seamless pattern 0.5 width, and bottom top is like moving over the seamless pattern 0.5 height.
so a center corner is just a diagonal move of 0.5 width and 0.5 height...so doesn't matter how you shift the view box, it can never scramble.
Am i right? or am i missing something?

You never "scramble", but sometimes it can be difficult to find you way back:)
