looks like it's dead for me too.
I get Latest
This site can’t be reached
gimpscripts.com’s server IP address could not be found.

and also Latest GIMP Scripts & Plug-ins on gimpchat.com just says
Recent Scripts From GIMP Scripts...
instead of showing the latest scripts.

I believe this site is,
and or was maintained by GnuTux.

I know that lately,
he has been having health issues.
Perhaps this is not a priority,
which would be understandable given the situation.

Of course nothing is important when there is a health issue.
My best wishes for his health.
Merry Christmas to him and his family.

I'm sorry to learn the news about GnuTux, I hope and wish he gets a speedy recovery.

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

Had no idea that Tux was ill. Going to see if I can email him to see how he's doing.

Maybe the domain name expired and now the host server is unreachable?

It would have been quite easy to mirror gimpscripts given that it mostly contained scripts?

This is a good time to think about succession planning. All of the scripts could have gone on github with a couple of maintainers so the community doesn't need to rebuild the archive. :(

It seems that GimpScripts is its own nameserver which is why it cannot be found...

The problem with GitHub is that its isn't really designed for non-techies. It is meant to share source code betwen developers, not packages. The "couple or maintainers" would really have to be "all authors of scripts stored in the GitHub project", but then all authors would have to agree that any other author could edit their code.

See http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.gimpscripts.com for snapshots of GimpScripts, the latest being on Sept 13th, 2017.

The link to the September snapshot is here:

Worth a donation to the internet archive :)

I propose we somehow move any existing scripts/plug-ins into another webpage. I can create a sub-page on my own host, or anyone else, who has their own site can volunteer to use their own. Anything is better than letting these scripts fall by the wayside.

Don't worry, the good scripts will survive... But replacing a one-man operation by another one-man operation isn't really a solution. IMHO you need at least 3 people trustable with full admin powers to make something that can survive the demise of one of them. But at that point it would be better to revive the Gimp registry.

I’ve made several attempts to contact Ingo about reviving the Registry. No responses. Perhaps I need to talk to Michael Schumacher, as well. I do know that spammers brought ruin upon the registry. Perhaps, the format of how scripts are stored needs to be changed there.

Apparently, they’re in a development phase on the registry site. I’ll contact Michael and the gang and offer my assistance.

Eventually, they want to have some kind of "Store" for scripts and plugins so that you just download scripts from inside Gimp. Needless to say the security needs to be tight :)

Maybe a separate app; I'm still uncomfortable getting G'MIC updates but I trust David; that trust was years in the making, ofnuts. Still, the updates handled within the plugin itself. Would like to keep such things isolated from the program as much as possible, but still, such things are always a target for hackers if it ever becomes worth their time to exploit. Keeping an eye on the program below, but I've not installed it yet. :)
