Thanks Tran. They were created originally in Tiera-Zon and Sterling2 fractal generators. In each case I took several renders in different render modes then layered them in Gimp using different layer modes.

Have you tried jWildfire yet? It's a free downloadable - open source program for Windows and Linux (I think)

When I was using it there were scripts installed in the program and you can make your own as well. You may even be able to download them. I know you can some scripts and many people share their formulas. Oh it is a Java run program too.
I still can't get my head around the maths of fractals so would mostly do the scripts.

Thanks sallyanne. Haven't tried jWildfire yet but I'll give it a go. I use mostly Tiera-Zon and Sterling2. Tiera-Zon has a unique formula creation thing that you can play maths with. It's trial and error for me because I don't understand the maths either.
