The zipped folder contains the new version 2.17 filter plugin together with its associated joined-up True Type fonts. You only need to install the fonts if you do not have the ones that came with version 2.13 update.

Download and install the plugin to your plugin folder. Install the TrueType fonts, if needed, into your gimp fonts folder. I would remove any old plugin and truetype fonts from their user folders.

The second zip folder contains a custom xcf font. Place the custom gimp font into whichever folder you store your custom fonts in.

Version 2.17 adds an option to use custom xcf fonts with the filter (see the screenshot below). I have replaced the multi-line text entry box with a single line text box to save a little space. If your entered text contains a non-alphabetic character which has not been created in the custom font, the filter will inform you and replace it with a space character.

I have made an example image to show a variety of custom gimp fonts using the various filter options. I apologise for the rather contrived interpretation of the theme.

Long Filter Dialogs

Here are two links to two solutions that work well when using long dialog boxes, like the one with this filter, with your python plugins Other solutions are available:

The Custom xcf Font looks like this:

NB The filter colour options use the colorify filter to modify the colour of custom fonts. Although they do alter darker coloured custom fonts, they work best on lighter shades and tones.

Nice one Issa! Seems like a really good combination of the filter and the custom fonts - lots of fun to come.

Yes, Skinnyhouse, I like your addition with custom fonts. :yes
It's very useful your explanation and picture to see the results in different settings. :coolthup
I'm trying the different options of the texts, as you know it's necessary to adapt the sizes and spacing. :)
Here a bit of my tries.

Issa: I'm glad that you found the tips of some use - there are a lot of options to make sense of and they do sort of complement each other. As I hinted at in the documentation, I think it does help if you use the same sized (roughly) canvas for creating stuff on to get a feel for the font sizes etc and then, when finished, down-scale for up-loading.

Anyway - looking pretty good so far.
