Hello,

Initially all was good and GIMP loaded fast but recently it started loading for longer.
Specifically when it says that fonts are loading, it takes more than usual and I haven't
installed any fonts. Okay I did install 1 font only but that's it.

I remember adding new directory to scan for scripts, it's in Windows/user directory.
I wonder if that's what causing slowness but then why it loads slowly when fonts are loading?

Fault-finding Gimp with Linux often means starting Gimp from a command line. Maybe it works with Windoze as well? Something like 'C:\Program Files\Gimp.exe'

Just for comparison, here is how fast my gimp loads.

Oh I am so jealous, on my machine, Gimp takes a long time to load!

Could it be that Gimp is already running in the background?

No. The only things running at the time was Chromium (the object you underlined) and the screen capture utility.

Not sure what you mean. I was just showing how fast my Gimp loads in my system as a reference. Yours loads very quick also and I see you are running some KDE desktop. I use KDE in a VM, but not really a fan. I prefer Cinnamon.

Maybe some 'unusual' Gimp startup animations, just for fun.

Mine started doing the same thing after I upgraded to GMIC 2.0. I found that reinstalling GMIC, after every new font, fixes the load times.

Haven't seen this advice on GC - apologies if I am repeating it.

For Windows users Ofnuts posted some very helpful advice on Gimp Forum that I haven't seen here. Periodically (after updates with new fonts) this crazy 'slow down' does happen; I find that it eventually rights itself but this tip certainly works for some Windows users.

Try this. Right click on your GIMP shortcut and run as administrator. Once it fully launches, close GIMP and re-open by simply double-clicking. Works for me; every so often, when I notice issues like yours, I do this.
