Hello Everyone,

I am new to GIMP and .Tiff files in general. I need to open quit a few .TIFF files and receive the following error:

"TIFF Image Message
Unknown field with tag 33000 (0x80e8) encountered.

Message repeated 35 times"

Can someone tell me what this is and how to get around it?

Thanks!

Once you close all the error messages.
Does the image open correctly?

Have you tried to open the tiff image using another image viewer,
and does it open correctly?

You may also try running GIMP as Administrator,
by right clicking the application's shortcut and selecting Run As Administrator.
Once GIMP has launched.
Go to: File>Open,
navigate to the tiff image and attempt to open it.

Hello Global Moderator

I can get it to open correctly after the error message. Opening the .Tiff files as an Admin produces the same results. I have also tried to open it from several other image viewers and only GIMP seems to work. I just need to know what this error means and how it will effect the files? Also do you know if IMP can convert the .Tiff to a PDF?

Thanks A lot!

I'm sorry to say,
but I have little to no experience working with .Tiff file within GIMP.
I also can't advise you concerning the conversion you asked about.
Perhaps one of our member having more experience with this kind of image.
Will chime in and offer some advice.

I do not get any error messages when opening .tiff files, can you post a test file?

To save as pdf:
File > Export As... > Select File Type (By Extension)
