the pattern folder was too big , i must do a selection

But thar don't regard much gmic ,except that gmic has a command to load image files from a link and i was thinking to check it with patterns of different size

The first refresh is necessary to be able to change the url of the filter source for PhotoComiX, and the second refresh is necessary to actually get the photocomix filter file from the Internet.

But for version Windows (32 bit) does not have GMIC 1.4.9.4 and the error still occurs - and the lack of filters PhotoComix.
Are you sure the change from 1.4.9.3 to 1.4.9.4 will eliminate this little annoyance?

Still get an error, but PC's presets to get updated. Also, he did (like 12 minuts ago) fix a link so now all his changes that he made including the b/w hardsketch as well as the new Tileable Rotation presets will now show up upon refresh. :)

Molly, go to Additional Filters in G'MIC. Uncheck Photocomix's box, click apply. Then Refresh button.

Back in Additional Filters, uncheck Photocomix's box again (it auto checks it after refresh, but doesn't activate it) and click Apply again. Then check his box, click Apply, then the refresh button. Should solve your problem.

I don't have additional filters Mahvin. I went all down the list and it is not there. I am sure I saw it the other day...

Ok I did all that. I didn't get the error this time. How do I know if it refreshed?

Well, you can delete the definition file in the roaming folder and G'MIC will create a new one.

But, for your case, simply refreshing without an error is an indication, plus the new filter will show up and your filter count will go higher.

I haven't tried to update my filters yet but i have noticed that I have a ".gmic_def.1491" file AND a ".gmic_def.1493"

is this correct?

Residual definition files are not uncommon, you can delete the old ones.
