Hello, I'm trying to get part of the ground to cover this color background. In other worlds just trying to get the color layer viewed in the background and the ground is just black.

What are the methods I can do to have the ground appear on top, or cut out the bottom part of the color layer?

There's probably a few ways,
that this could be done.
Here's what I came up with.

I put this image together using 3 layers.
First or top layer,
is a rainbow light ray kind of image.
The second layer is a silhouette image.
The third layer,
is a star/night background.

The rainbow image was a jpg image.
Which seems to have been created on a black background.
See image below.

What I did was to apply Alpha To Color using Black as the color.
On the rainbow layer.
This removed the black pixels for the this layer.

This seemed to work well for me.
Not sure if you'll have the same results.

Here's is the XCF file of the image.
If you're interested in checking it out.

Thank you @Wallace for the response tho, I understand how that can work however, I would need to figure out a way to separate the bottom foreground from the sky. I think I would have to manually carve it out, do you know what tools I can use to achieve this?

Can you post that part of the image and I'll see what might work?
