Greetings All

I am working my way towards learning any 3d platform I can that is easy to use. I use to have an older version of Gimp a few years ago but have relearned some Blender, Magix and Avid 3d. Now I am wondering if putting Gimp in the 3d market would be feasible.

I am beginning to do some comic graphics and wanted to put it on film (so to speak) and incorporate as much 3d as I can. Does anyone know how
to create a 3d image beginning with a small pencil sketch from the computer file ? Not just texting or flat images.

Any ideas forthcoming would be appreciated.

I'm not aware of any plans to add 3D capabilities to GIMP. Gimp is strictly a 2D platform.

You can simulate a few 3D effects in GIMP but that's about it.

A good 3D package needs to be built as a 3D package from the start.

For you to be able to render and/or animate in 3D, the image must be described in 3D so you'll need a package capable of handling that. Something like blender

Some 3D packages are able to take a 2D image and "extrude" the 3rd dimension but that techniques has limited use.
