This is so random, I was literally just looking for something similar to this. I'll have to tinker it a bit, of course, but this is great. Thank you so much trandoductin!

Hi Trandoductin.

Small problem - single letter in heart shapes.
Can you fix it?

not sure what the logic is to fix that ....
it's doing what it's supposed to do (fitting letter in heart shape the bounding box happens to be concave where the center of heart is.

Might be nice if a pattern can be added.

Introducing Script-Fu word_to_shape.scm release 13 for Gimp 2.10.28
Attachment:
word_to_shape.zip [4.38 KiB]
Downloaded 50 times

Usage:
  1. Ctrl+N creates a new image. Choose for example 500 x 500 pixels or open an existing image.
  2. shortcut Alt+filte(R)s > (R)ender > (W)ords to Shapes: in the list of words, enter any word of more than one letter
  3. Later, if you wish to undo, press only one Ctrl+Z then wait at least 3 seconds

New features include gradient, texture and shortcut.

However Trandoductin or Graechan, could you review the scheme code because Xach translucent effect works only in "color" mode on the so called "highlight" hl-layer?
Gradient or texture seems to be visible on drawable but is no longer translucent. :bawl See lines 26-30.

Also Graechan, would you check if there is any regression about parent or position of layer?

Because AlSchemist strongly simplified the code reducing the number of lines of scheme from 716 to 147
There were 105 set! instructions in release 12. There is zero set! in release 13, which introduces the case function known as switch in other languages.
Moreover, the deprecated legacy gimp-drawable-set-name has been replaced with modern gimp-item-set-name.

A standard optimization about arithmetic binary operator is to use the less known ternary operator:
Copy in the clipboard the following expression and paste it in the input area of the Script-Fu console: Alt+filte(R)s > (S)cript-Fu > (C)onsole
(- (- 8 2) 1)

;-> composition of binary operators returns 8 - 2 - 1 = 5
(- 8 2 1)

;-> ternary operator returns also 5 :bigthup

What AlSchemist prefers is the unusual usage of the And :sglasses operator returning the value of its last parameter if all previous parameters did not fail.
So we introduce the functions circle, cone and triangle inside the initialization of local variables.
(case shapeType ; Calculate y distance combined with x2 to get point on circumference
   ((0)(let*   (   (b1 (and (define (circle x)(sqrt (- (pow rad 2) (pow (abs (- rad x)) 2)))) (circle x1)))   (b2 (circle x2)))
         (transf #t layerWrd   (+ x-rad x1) (- ctry b1) (+ x-rad x2) (- ctry b2) (+ x-rad x1) (+ ctry b1)   (+ x-rad x2) (+ ctry b2))
      )   )
)   ; etc.

I want GEGL to be able to do something like this but it is impossible without a mathematician to program it.
