I prefer the cross strokes attempt C and not the one that is too much contrasted.

Well, after comparing results B with C, I prefer vC too.

both look great but it seems ironic that i like the way the strokes on the leaves look in "B" better in this last pair

thanks you all for your evaluations.
Being technically easy for me to do so, I decide to prepare a version which allows the user to choose as an option whether for the particular source image it's better B or C.
Then I'll send this version to all of you for further analysis and evaluation.

I prefer the Cross because I have the impression that it is raining in the mono version.

With the cross version there are small areas marked by the monedirectional and that's what I like. :yes

The last update has also a third option, it may be used in some cases even if it has no "drawing" look (texture is "undefined").
