I've used this gem for a couple of years now. Dave (why are so many software gurus named Dave; lol) just shared with me that he just released version 1.98. I do a lot of my crosshatch renders using this one; it can do so much more then just that, but the crosshatch is the best that I've run across. It's better then some of the filters that I paid some big bucks for over the years. Just wanted to share with you all this cool and free program too. :)

Some very recent posts where I used it for Crosshatching (of course, I both heavily pre-process and post-process in GIMP):

Another great program and your images are awesome! Maybe I should post some of mine, some time.

I would like to see that PM; only reason I don't post them here is that I didn't religiously use just GIMP (keeping to the theme for this site). I still do a lot of pre and post processing when I use all these gems, and, pretty much solely do that processing in GIMP. :)

Those are awesome, Lyle. I love the textured background.

Re-posting because the last one disappeared!

I use many different programs, but Gimp is my big one. Gimp handles 99% of my work and all of the others make up the remaining 1%, since Gimp does what most of the others do anyway. It's fun having many options. I took an image done on dumpr.net and reproduced it entirely in Gimp. It's always fun to challenge myself.

Just clicked your flickr; you lucky dog. I want a Loreo lens cap too, but, after some correspondance with them, I know they don't have one that fits the threads of my Leica. They also told me that the device won't work with a thread adaptor either. Bummer for me. Happy for you though. :)

I would look on Ebay and see if they have the old version, that threads on the front of your existing lenses.

My Leika has 55mm threads and think their cap is 40 or 45mm unfortunately. Not going to buy a camera just for the cap 3D capabilities (believe there is an actually 3D digital camera Fuji; not going to buy it either; lol). :)

I remember reading where people bought the Loreo 3D lens attachment for the lens threading, and used 52mm and 55mm adapter rings, with no problems.

Like the Dali Lama render too by the way. Anyway, glad to here that. Still concerned (not a cheap product), but again, the person from Loreo told me flat out that it won't work properly, but I was skeptical (why would you even have thread adapters if they didn't work?). Might give it a go when my job situation (need to find work) gets remedied. :)

The ones they make now, go right on the camera body, without a lens. The older ones, threaded onto the front of your existing lens, and they are not camera dependant. You'd have to find it used on Ebay.
