Looking at some of the recent posts and seeing a mixture of rendering (POVray) and animations, just wonder if anyone uses Art Of Illusion to generate the frames for processing in GIMP.

Does not have all the bells-n-whistles but it is a lot easier to use than Blender, and a lot cheaper (free) than 3DSmax.

It is a java application, so should work whatever your computer runs.

a very-quick example, just for text.

Thank you for that Rich.

Molly - it should work with Fedora. There's a Linux version on the download page.

I installed Art of Illusion. On first look this program might be a lot of fun. It's got excellent documentation and user support. The online manual is worth a download.

I did not know animations were possible with Art of Illusion. I thought it was mainly a 3-D program like Blender and Hexagon. :)

I don't know about Hexagon but Blender is an animation program too as are Daz and Bryce.

Rod, trying to scare me with 'I did not know animations were possible with Art of Illusion'

So for anyone interested, not a tutorial, there are plenty really good ones around.
Just a quick how-to using the text tool. - 8 mins
