Love that. Is it a font with the flyaway pieces or did you do it all by hand?

An unusual and creative (or destructive) use of FE.

Can you explain how you did it and where to find FE?

Now there's a point. Gimp's Fractal Explorer is in Filters/render but there is also a separate program called FE. I think he means Gimp's.

Zward:
Erisian is right it is in Gimp
new image, then add gradient of your choice
then new layer,filter,render,fractal explorer
then chose green place, then type in whatever you want in there, use large font number
then layer to image size
then do filter, map, displace to fractal layer,on X and Y..chose how much you want to displace
when you're done, delete the fractal layer
then alpha to selection
use another gradient to change the black font to what you want then select none
you can also bump map it when you're done

I am going to try it...wish me luck, lol.

OK, first question...what is meant by "green place"?

I cannot figure this out, I will need more intermediate steps or explanation of steps...and I had seen a video tut on how to do something similar and now I can't find it, grrrrrr.
Oh wait, I tried green text, that seemed to work, lol. Still, I will need to do better with the fractals, it's really hard to get the right size/shapes.

Ok, got it. Now another question...how would I be able to get fragmented parts to be flying off text or photo in one direction only? Yes, totally different, but similar look.

I need to figure out how to get the flying off pieces to only fly off in one direction...from a photo rather than lettering. And the bump mapping makes the lettering look even better!
