from what i get

1 Text layer should be converted in normal layer (layer/discard text info )
2 you need text on a white BG , if bg is transparent everything become transparent
(that should be a bug )

anyway the default seems a bit weird so the text (or what else used )is widely distort...i suppose Lylejk and O figure out a better default, i didn't yet

Somehow this is how I picture David. Instead of playing a pipe organ, he's playing a computer keyboard.

Thanks for the links, PhotoComix. I now have the beta version: 1.4.4.2.

Beautiful Molly. Love it.

@Greg: What did you use to animate your gold logo? Mine is not nearly as nice. I used GAP and Map Object.

well ...knowing David you will have not to wait much.
I have on win another released on Monday and works well except for this little bug
(see last message with photos http://www.flickr.com/groups/gmic/discu ... 139589950/ )

But that is easy to solve:
just before running that filter save the selection in a channel
when finish restore the selection, invert and clear.

but maybe just refresh filter will solve (now i can't check )

Wow, there is like a new filter or update to G'MIC every day it seems. =)

Sorry I keep forgetting to answer the post about the spinning gold image.
I cheated and made it easy, though slightly repetative. I didn't use Gap.

I created my original two layer image, white on black as the background layer and the gold gradient as the top layer.
I duplicated it once with Ctrl+D.
I ran the 3d extrusion filter in G'MIC on one copy, with a depth of 59 (just what I liked), set the X and Z angles to what I liked and set the Y angle to '0' (zero). I also set the rendering mode to Phong.
I named the single resulting layer as '0' (zero). {not necessary, but recommended}
On the other copy, I re-ran the filter with the Y angle 10.
I dragged the new layer onto the first image.
I went back to the newer image and hit Control+Z to undo the filter. I then re-ran the filter with Y angle of 20.
I kept repeating this, increasing the angle by 10 degrees and dragging the result onto the first image each time, until I hit 350. (360=0)
The reason I named the layers 0, 10, 20, etc. is so when I saved it, I knew where I left off.
Very simple, just a little redundant. It went quick, because there were a total of only 36 layers.

Thank you so much Greg. Gonna give it a whirl (no pun intended).

I think animating a mapped object would be a cool filter for MathMap.

Here is mine. Not extremely difficult as far as how to do it but very tedious to do. Nice results.

Now I must say this is a winner in my book for several reasons! One reason is I love butterflies and the second is that my favorite color is purple! Excellent image!!
