Bonjour,

Here a filter G'MIC/Gimp : Filters > G'MIC > Testing > Samj > Sparkly
Layers can be 100% transparent.
Edit : Add random colors
An example on a black background :

Ohh, this one got buried. I'm happy I found it. Sam this is great.

A suggestion for the filter is for it to make layers (as many as desired). This one was easy anyway as I made my first layer and duplicated it until I had 5 layers, then ran the filter on each layer. Luckily I could just "Repeat G'MIC" and each layer of sparkles was different.

I will want to play with this some more, but I really like it. I'm hoping I'll find a way to make random pixels with the stars but haven't really played with it enough to see if that's a possibility. I used your metal script for the background.

I LOVE this filter. I know I'm going to have fun with it. :blingbling

Thanks David. I really love this filter. I found the random pixels settings so this one has not only sparkles but pixie dust in it. Image

Bonjour,

Merci, Thank you all :tyspin

@Oregonian

I'll do an animation in a second step as my first attempts were not good.
The simultaneous change of the background and "stars" does not give good results (in my opinion).
I think I have a few changes for improvements. I want thinner lines : Unfortunately I have to change scale layers to get a nice result ... This increases the processing time :(

Edit : You can try "Type 8".

@Ronounours

Merci :tyspin

For a random function that changes with each call G'MIC I created a horrible thing.
Would it be possible to have something that looks like very old functions "Random Time" , where the random number is given by an analysis of the time of the machine (time.h ...).
(This avoids restoring the same numbers every time you launch the application).

That produced a Preview Error with anything less than 50%. It seems to thicken the stars and I prefer the skinnier ones. :hehe

Actually, it's really quite fast to make the text layer and do a selection to fill it with, keep the selection, go to your G'MIC sparkly filter and adjust the settings. Then, all that needs to be done is click the next layer, do Ctrl + F and that repeats G'MIC each layer.

I love the randomness of the sparkles.

@Oregonian

You can try to reload the G'MIC filters to try "Type 8".
If you have a problem, can you make a screen shot of your settings :tyspin .

Here's a screen shot of my settings. Now I get a preview error on 90% and anything lower.

@Samj : for the random number problems, I think you have forgot one compilation directive during the plug-in compilation. PhotoComiX had the same problem with another filter.
More infos at : http://www.flickr.com/groups/gmic/discu ... 626445184/

Maybe you should consider recompiling the plug-in, with the good option :p

Thanks Samj.

Bonjour,

@Oregonian

Thank you, I'll be able to test :tyspin

@Ronounours

Thank you, for your response and for the comment :tyspin
I compile with the right option but it does not work :(
Windows 32-bit version of Sourceforge does not have this problem.
I must remember to include a library in the makefile, I will look at this problem...

Bonjour,

@Ronounours

Mea-culpa ...
I found the error : I forgot to put "-Dcimg_use_rng" in "STD_GIMP_CFLAGS"

*****

I've compiled the 64-bit beta version for those who want to test (without error, I hope :) ) :

Bonjour,

@Oregonian
Thank you for your help :)
The problem seems solved : The parameter "amplitude" filter "Wind" was not an integer.
You can download and test G'MIC filters.

It's working perfectly!!! Love the little holes the isophotes make in the stars. I need to play more with the settings. Thank you so much, samj. I like having it in G'MIC.
