when i was still using Paint.NET, there was a nice feature for making speechbubbles, like in a comic book
you could put in values for position and size, rounded edges or ovals

could find nothing in the registry

i know you can make one with a selection and the path tool, but sometimes im lazy :mrgreen:

I always made them in inkscape, it gives a lot ore flexibility.

Nope, different menu.
The one I posted will be in the, Script-Fu, Text menu.
My mistake, use one or the other.

What 2-ton mentioned about the brushes I think is a very good option.

Also maybe you can have your text bubbles made ​​with Paint.NET in a template in white over black background for use with GIMP. Also you can find a template that can be useful:
