...I believe that maybe some kind of win7 features prevent me from doing that, I remember seeing an option to remove the minimize-resize-close icons on top of toolbox window but I failed to find it..

Basically, I wanted to try a 2 columns toolbox like ramon has, but I'm stuck with a 4 columns one I can't narrow it further, however, as you can see, ramon doesn't have minimize-resize-close icons enabled: http://theshock.deviantart.com/gallery/ ... 7#/d38rvvc

Did you un-check Single-Window mode in the Windows menu?

If you are using the single window, just pull the sides in with your mouse Hover over the vertical division between your tools and the main part of your window until there is a double arrow and pull that in until your tools are in 2 rows.

Anarkhya is using Gimp 2.6.8, there is no single-window mode, unless he listed that version mistakenly.
It's impossible to narrow down toolbox window to less that 3 columns in 2.6.

And I believe Ramon is using 2.8.x single window mode, that's why you don't see minimize-restore-close buttons on top of toolbox window.

Edit: Took a closer look, he does use 3 window mode. And it's 2011 way before 2.8 release.
You need a workspace config file (sessionrc) replaced. His GPS comes with sessionrc. Have you tried to copy it into .gimp-2.6 user folder?
Or maybe it's 2.7 dev version?

Go to Edit>>Preferences>>Window Management and select Utility Window as the Hint for the toolbox. You probably have it set to Normal Window at the moment, and normal windows get the full set of window decorations.

And the winner is... paynekj ! (:

Thank you !
This is exactly what I needed, the utility pref allow me to reduce the toolbox width.
Now I have a wider space dedicated to images, as I'm using a not so high resolution, 1280*1024, better space management was necessary for me.
