Deleted most but no joy:
i could not clean up the list so apparently all the spam is still there

but i feel fight spam in this way is just loosing time, or ingo or whatever solve the problem of that bloody index cache, so cleaning will reflect on the list in real time or i will stop try cleaning up

Same here i gave up on Gimper. I even tried to buy the hosting and the owner has ignored my messages.
That or he just never visits the website to check.
That forum is almost completely dead now.I think he is just waiting for the hosting fee to be due for the year and will just let it go.

Pretty sad.

PC ask the owner of the registry website to change the guest posting allowed to disallowed.Have the owner create a new Captcha system that asks a question for any new registration.

Guest posting should not be allowed at all in my opinion. That is a spider heaven for spammers.
Ask him to give you perms to disallow new registration when you need it also. This will give you time to cleanup all the spam posts.

These methods should cut down on the spam quite a bit.

Apparently the responsible didn't reply to my last messages on the forum and was from more than a week ago

I may try to send a PM,

about your suggestion users are immediately blocked if their post was reported as spam, and was a serious problem because Mollum was doing also automatically ,and was too suspicious, so marked as spammer a lot of contributors only for a link or a suspicious word in their message (RobA and other had to create new accounts because seen by Mollum as dangerous spammers...)

So is not something so simple as impose more rules and filtering, because both may create even worse problems

Out of theory and back to the simple trivial practice first is to fix that cursed index cache because i am not removing more spam if the deleted spam remain visible in the index of most recent messages and topics for a forum bug
...it is just worthless

A very mischievous way to fix spam (aka "spam hell") is to give "spammer privileges" to spammers. When you get "spammer privileges": your posts are automatically marked "spam", and only people with spammer privileges" are allowed to see them. Another way (aka "slow hell") is to delay HTTP answers to noted IP ranges.

that go over my head j am really ignorant of the whole matter, html, php, mollum are all matters out of my knowledge

i may remove the spam but if the spam even if removed remain visible filling the home page headers, and the CEO doesn't reply to my message i may even prefer remain 2 hours more on a nice beach and forgot about the registry spam

EDIT Still ready to help if i can at soon would be the conditions

And all technical suggestions may become more useful if posted in the registry forum, where somebody more competent may read and implement

Well most if not all of the spam is coming from guests correct?
Disallow guest posting and you disallow the spamming.

Not to mention spam bots can't answer simple alternating equation questions in a Captcha like 2+1. :)

Are these spam bots or are they human spammers? If many if them are spam bots, you should be able to come up with a good captcha.

If they get by the captcha here, new posts rise to the top so they get noticed and deleted pretty quickly. Perhaps something like that would be useful there, even if the" latest posts list" were only viewable by moderators.
